CME Activity
Note: For CME or CHTC credit, you must complete the evaluation and post-test following the activity. A CME or CHTC certifcate will be mailed to you approximately two weeks after completion of the survey.
Program Description
Review patient case studies to apply the latest HLA matching criteria for selection of marrow, PBSC and cord blood unit (CBU) cell sources for transplant patients with review of the impact on transplant timing and survival. Attendees will identify relevant pre- and post-transplant factors that may influence post transplant outcomes and using the HapLogic III matching algorithm, apply criteria for cell source selection and assess the impact of criteria limitations to finding a cell source.
Learning Objectives
- Select pre- and post transplant HLA and non-HLA factors that impact hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) outcomes for patients
- Apply new matching criteria guidelines and research to identify optimal donors or CBUs for patients in need of HCT
- Review and evaluate the impact of search limitations applied to a matching algorithm that may eliminate identification of the viable donor and CBU selections and impact timing of transplant
