Robin Roberts causes 1,800% spike in donors

HLN Network by Craig Johnson

Good Morning America lead anchor Robin Roberts received an outpouring of support after announcing that she was fighting myelodysplatic syndrome (MDS). Formerly known as pre-leukemia, Robin’s MDS likely stemmed from her prior chemotherapy treatments while battling breast cancer.

Fortunately, Roberts’ sister, Sally-Ann Roberts, is an excellent match. However, Roberts noted that many people are not as lucky, particularly African Americans and other minorities. She encouraged viewers to join the Be The Match Registry as potential marrow donors. In the days following her diagnosis, Be The Match experienced a tremendous increase in online registrations.
