You Could Save Her Life

Glamour Magazine by Habiba Nosheen and Lisa Desai

National

Glamour Magazine featured 29-year-old Japanese American Krissy Kobata and her ongoing battle with myelodysplastic syndrome. For the past four years, Kobata has been searching for a marrow donor; however, because of her mixed-race heritage, finding a match has been difficult.

Dr. Willis Navarro, medical director for transplant services at the National Marrow Donor Program and Be The Match, was interviewed for the story and discussed the need for mixed-race donors. To date, Kobata has recruited more than 4,000 potential donors in an effort to find her match.
