Throughout the month of September, KARE-11 in Minneapolis/St. Paul aired several stories encouraging viewers to join the Be The Match Registry and donate financially. Segments featured donor success stories, the story of recipient Brettly Stulc and searching patient Owen Pilot. KARE-11 also hosted a phone bank during newscasts on Sept. 17 for viewers interested in joining the Be The Match Registry. Call-takers at KARE 11 answered 475 calls from people who were interested in learning more about how to become marrow donors during the 4, 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts. On Sept. 27, KARE-11 hosted a donor registry drive to sign up potential donors in person.
