College student Britney Zavada joined the Be The Match Registry after hearing a presentation about the organization. As she was walking into class, she got a call letting her know she was a match. After her initial shock, she was excited about the potential there was for her to help save a life.
Zavada’s mother was concerned about the procedure, but learning about the different options for donation calmed her fears. Both are less invasive than typically believed.
Zavada doesn’t know if she will be needed because a patient’s health can deteriorate, making them too weak for the process, but if it’s needed she is ready to donate.
