NationalAlice Walton, health contributor for Forbes Magazine, wrote about Alex Katz’s experience battling leukemia. Alex, who was 13 years old when he was first diagnosed in 2008, chronicled his journey in a blog.
His blog posts elaborated on his various treatments and contained one simple message: the need for bone marrow donors is urgent and signing up to be a marrow donor is one of the simplest things anyone can do.
In the article, Dr. Jeffrey Chell, the CEO of the National Marrow Donor Program, echoed Alex’s message. He explained that people can sign up at one of the many donation drives around the nation, or at BeTheMatch.org.
