Thanks to the generosity of our corporate and foundation partners, more patients with blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, sickle cell and other life-threatening diseases are getting a second chance at life. Whether an organization is sponsoring a donor drive to grow the Be The Match Registry®, contributing toward research, supporting patient assistance or sponsoring a local event, their support has a positive effect on their employees, their communities and our transplant patients.

3M has a distinguished history as a recognized leader in supporting the life-saving work of Be The Match Foundation®. Since 1992, 3M has made many financial contributions directed toward educating people about the need for marrow donation and encouraging them to join the registry. Through employee-run drives at 3M plants across the country, more than 1,258 employees have joined the registry, and four of those employees have been matched to patients and donated their marrow. 3M recently won the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce Quality of Life Award for their work with Be The Match Foundation. Abbott Molecular

Abbott Molecular, a producer of reagents used in the tissue typing process, has partnered with Be The Match Foundation® for more than 10 years. Abbott has been a sponsor of the IMGT/HLA Database that is used by registries, typing labs, transplant centers and researchers throughout the world to determine HLA matches. Abbott has also been a sponsor of the annual National Marrow Donor Program® Council Meeting. Abbott has conducted donor drives on behalf of Be The Match Registry® with its employees. Of the employees added to the registry, 75% are from ethnically or racially diverse backgrounds. One of Abbott's employees was identified as a match for a young girl with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Aetna and the Aetna Foundation have awarded Be The Match Foundation® more than $200,000 over the past six years. A significant portion of those dollars have covered the costs of Aetna employees who choose to join the Be The Match Registry®. Employees have met that call to action—since 1999, more than 1,600 have participated in 126 marrow donor registry drives hosted at 41 Aetna offices nationwide. Visit Aetna 

American Airlines Logo

American Airlines

American Airlines has supported Be The Match Foundation® since 1999. American Airlines became aware of the need for marrow donors when the son of an employee needed a transplant. American Airlines stepped forward to make a generous contribution to Be The Match Foundation to cover the cost of adding their employees to the Be The Match Registry®. Over the past 11 years, American Airlines has held more than 155 drives, adding more than 3,500 employees to Be The Match Registry. Amgen and the Amgen Foundation have supported Be The Match Foundation® since 1998. Amgen has demonstrated its commitment to our mission by conducting more than 50 donor recruitment drives, which added more than 1,400 new members to Be The Match Registry®. Amgen is also a strong supporter of the annual National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) Council Meeting. In 2008, Amgen received the Admiral Zumwalt Corporate Award for demonstrating consistent, committed support through sponsoring tissue typing and/or educational projects that have led to an increased awareness of the NMDP's programs, services and mission. General Motors

General Motors (GM) has been a leader in its support of Be The Match Foundation® and in corporate recruitment. Through its Life Match Program, GM has conducted approximately 190 donor drives and added more than 8,200 employees to Be The Match Registry®. Forty-two employees have gone on to donate marrow. GM also supports the mission of Be The Match in the community. Through its Saturn retailers, GM sponsored one of America's largest annual community-wide one-day donor drives, called Saturn National Donor Day. United States Postal Service Logo

United States Postal Service

Through its Delivering the Gift of Life Campaign, the United States Postal Service (USPS) has added 50,000 employees and their family members to Be The Match Registry®. At least 80 postal employees have been matched to patients and gone on to donate -- giving a patient a second chance at life. In September 2009, the Postal Service was the recipient of the first Rod Carew Award for Leadership and was recognized as having saved more lives through marrow donation than any other business organization in the nation.
