The National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP), which operates Be The Match®, is the hub of a global transplant network that connects more than 600 leading centers worldwide, including,
- Transplant centers – hospitals that care for transplant patients
- U.S. donor centers and recruitment centers and international donor centers – our local representatives who educate and support donors throughout the process, from joining the Be The Match Registry® through donation
- Cord blood banks that recruit cord blood donations, work with hospitals to collect cord blood, then process and store it
- Collection centers – hospitals and blood centers that perform bone marrow collections
- Apheresis centers – hospitals and blood centers that perform peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) collections
- Laboratories that do the testing to determine donors’ tissue types and add them to our Be The Match Registry
- Repositories that store blood and cell samples from donors on our Be The Match Registry to enable quick follow-up testing when a donor is identified as a possible match
We have standards designed to ensure that patients and donors receive high quality care and that government standards are met.
